JEFIC works to strengthen Europe’s role in international cooperation by pooling the financial, technical and operational capacities of its member institutions – AECID, AFD, BGK, CDP and KfW. The network collaborates with public partners in developing countries and emerging economies, contributing to the mobilisation of the private sector, the improvement of local regulatory frameworks and the delivery of sustainable investments fully aligned with European Union priorities. Its action combines advocacy, co‑financing and a strong field presence, within the framework of Team Europe and the European Global Gateway strategy, to promote sustainable investments and reforms that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and to steer European engagement towards more coordinated and high‑impact interventions.

Advocacy

JEFIC conducts advocacy activities vis‑à‑vis European institutions and key international development cooperation stakeholders through joint papers and shared positions among its members. The objective is to help shape EU policies, rules, instruments and priorities in the field of development cooperation. These activities aim to improve the European financial architecture for development, simplify and enhance the effectiveness of EU instruments, strengthen the role of European public actors and promote a more coherent, coordinated and visible Team Europe approach.

Team Europe is the approach through which the European Union and its Member States join forces — together with their development agencies, public banks and financial institutions — to ensure a more coordinated, visible and effective external action. Launched during the global response to the pandemic, it is now the reference model for sustainable development cooperation. JEFIC applies this approach through close cooperation with the European Commission, Member States, EU Delegations, other international financial institutions and local partners, aligning priorities, sharing project pipelines and developing joint interventions that leverage the expertise and field presence of its member institutions.
